Hidden meaning behind King Charles' Christmas card is revealed – and why he chose to leave out significant detail | The Sun

ROYAL fans have noticed something missing from King Charles and the Queen Consort Camilla's Christmas card this year.

The festive greeting card contains a snap of the couple at the Braemar Royal Highland Gathering in September this year.

But this has sparked controversy as people have pointed out that his children and grandchildren are missing from the picture.

Some have speculated the absence of Prince William and the Duke of Sussex is down to their ongoing rift amid Harry & Meghan's release.

The docuseries has contained bombshell revelations and the trailer for upcoming episodes has caused outrage among fans and Royal experts.

Therefore it could be said the choice of Christmas card photo this year reflects the unfortunate family turmoil.

Harry and Meghan’s public denouncement of Royal Family is a step too far

Three Royal experts shared their understanding of the picture with The Sun Online.

Adam Helliker, Royal biographer, said: "It symbolises a sense of continuity solidness with the just the two of them standing together and ignores squabbling children and grandchildren.

"I mean who would be on it with him, Prince William, and Kate with Harry and Meghan? It would have been too much pressure, it would have looked really forced and awkward.

"It's symbolising a sense of stability and a rosey future."

Angela Levin, another Royal expert shared what she believed the card represented.

She said: "I think it is a wonderful card, this is Camilla at her most mischievous and happy.

"You see how relaxed they are, they work together very well, even though he can feel grumpy sometimes, she understands him completely, they love being together.

"They're not looking at the camera thinking 'me me me.'

"The clothes are very much to put Scotland to the front and show they really care, they love going there and I think they are saying please stay with us but in a very positive way.

"The Queen loved Scotland and the Braemar Games, and this year was the only one she missed since she became Queen."

Royal commentator, Richard Fitzwilliams, offered his take on the seasonal greeting.

He said: "There's no rule for Royal Christmas cards but obviously there's the poignant memory of the games the Queen couldn't attend.

"This was intended to pay tribute to the Queen, the Braemar Games were five days before she sadly died, so that was the main reason.

"The traditional Highland dress was very important to her, and Camilla is wearing the thistle broach – the Braemar Games were something the Queen always attended."

The expert also highlighted that Royal Christmas cards have varied greatly through the years.

"If you look over the years you'll find a small family group, at other times it's large, it varies," he explained.

However, on the flip side, the commentator did suggest another reason for the choice of photo.

He speculated: "If you want to be sad look at Charles, William and Harry.

"In 1995 and 1999 you sadly see these rifts develop with Diana, Christmas cards can give you quite an insight.
