I live in the most flooded town in the UK & Storm Ciarán has caused carnage…water is knee deep & people call it a ‘dump’ | The Sun

STORM Ciarán's 104mph winds have left a "disaster zone" with huge "golf ball" hailstones and severe flooding battering the UK.

Brits woke up yesterday to scenes of chaos, with pupils forced to stay home from schools, trees toppling onto houses and families rescued in dinghies.

It comes after the Met Office issued amber weather warnings – signifying a possible danger to life – across some areas of the country.

The worst of Storm Ciaran hit the UK yesterday, but the impact of Ciaran – the third named storm of the season – had already been felt in the run up to Wednesday November 1, with parts of Northern Ireland being flooded and people being warned not to travel.

Brits have suffered "very strong and potentially damaging winds associated with Storm Ciaran".

One woman, who lives in the most flooded town in the UK, the Cornish town of Looe, has taken to social media to show off the extreme carnage caused by Storm Ciarán.

She said: “POV: You live in the most flooded town in the UK.”

With water knee high, those living in Cornwall were seen struggling to walk in their Wellington boots.

People were seen trying to empty water out of their homes onto the overflowing roads, whilst bins had been knocked over and shop owners were struggling to deal with the rising level of water.

The TikTok clip, which was shared under the username @annabellepengelly, has clearly left many totally stunned, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 360,200 views.

Social media users were shocked at the scenes and were quick to express this in the comments.

One person said: “Oh gosh. I was literally here in August. I hope you're ok!”

Another added: “This is heartbreaking.”

A third commented: “Holy s**t is it still bad? Poor shop owners.”

Meanwhile, someone else wrote: “It sucks, but that's what happens when you live right at sea level, on the coast. I don't think anyone should be surprised this is happening.”

To this, Anabelle responded: “Can’t count the amount of people that think we’re ‘surprised’. We expect and prepare for it all year, everyone’s used to it.”

At the same time, another user claimed: “Overrated, awful place – always p*****g down – pig ignorant locals – overpriced below average restaurants – premium house prices for poor properties – what a dump.”

Conditions are expected to settle heading into the weekend, with just one yellow warning for rain in place after Friday in the north of England, reaching parts of Scotland.

It's thought that Storm Ciarán began brewing in the Atlantic before starting its journey to the UK and northern France.
