Okay, sorry, we are getting ahead of ourselves. Summer is barely even here and we’re acting like Christmas is around the corner.
But we can’t help ourselves, because your local Pret A Manger (which may well be around the corner) is already embracing the Christmas spirit – in July.
No, we didn’t stutter.
The sandwich shop franchise is forgoing summer and welcoming all things merry and bright by releasing its beloved Christmas sandwich in high summer.
The chain made the decision after being inundated with messages from customers who missed out last December.
So, as an act of kindness, Pret is bringing back the seasonal sarnie for a limited time only as they believe no one should miss out on the delicious feast.
And it really is a treat for the taste buds.
Going on sale today and for one month only, the sandwich features turkey with a port and orange cranberry sauce, herby pork stuffing squashed into thick-cut bread with baby spinach, mayo and crispy onions.
Plus, to make it even more festive, Pret has teamed up with Slade frontman Noddy Holder for the launch.
Noddy will star in a new video heralding the return of the seasonal sarnie and will also be on hand to dole out 100 Christmas sandwiches to lucky customers at Pret’s 182 Wardour Street Store from 11 am today.
While we don’t want to wish away summer just yet, we can’t help but feel excited about this news. It’s a spark of joy, and after all that has happened in the world, we deserve it.
So with restrictions easing even more, England in the semi-finals of the Euros and Christmas sandwiches on sale, things are finally looking up.
Just don’t go putting up the Christmas tree just yet.
