Best In-Car Phone Chargers 2019 | The Sun UK

DON'T run out of juice.

Stay powered up and keep your devices charged on the road with our guide to the best in-car chargers for your mobile.

There’s nothing worse than when the battery of your mobile phone runs out while you're on a long drive.

To avoid apocalyptic levels of disruption to your journey, check out our guide to the best in-car chargers.

With our increasing love of devices, chargers are something we can barely live without.

If you’re anything like us, you'll wade through them like water.

Some can break quickly, whether the wire becomes faulty or the jack no longer wants to mate with your phone’s port.

What’s more, with everything we’re asking our mobiles to do – navigation, music, telephony – while on-the-road, the USB port in-built in the car doesn’t actually charge the handset fast enough, leaving you without much-needed juice when you get to your destination.

Avoid any hassle by taking a look and selecting something from our list to make sure your mobile has power.

Using a mix of our expert knowledge, user reviews and industry tests, we’ve compiled this guide to make your decision as simple as 1-2-3.

1. MSC QI Wireless Charging & USB C Type Power Bank

  • QI Wireless Charging & USB C Type Power Bank, £34.95 from MobileSolarChargers.co.uk – buy here

This Auto Express group test winner turns your USB port into a wireless-charging pad.

Doubling up as a power bank, energy to put into the bank can be sourced from the car or the sun, as the name suggests.

Charging up to three devices at the same time, this charger offers great versatility.

It’s worth noting charging wirelessly does use more power and takes longer than a direct hardwired charge, but the pad will reduce the amount the wire itself gets moved around which should prolong the life of the contacts and copper wire inside.

2. Anker PowerCore 20100

  • Anker PowerCore, £32.99 from Amazon – buy here

Heavier than similar devices—weighing in at hefty 357g — the Anker PowerCore 20100 has huge capacity at 20,100mAh.

That means, it has the capability to charge an iPhone 8 almost seven times, or a Galaxy S8 five times.

The downside is, it takes up to 20 hours to recharge the power bank from a one-amp USB port, which is generally the standard for older vehicles.

Some modern cars do have more powerful USB port, in which the recharge time can be a short as ten hours.

Though it can’t support as many devices as the MSC, the Anker does charge more quickly.

3. Belkin 10,000mAh Portable Power Bank Charger

  • Belkin 10,000mAh Portable Power Bank Charger, £35 from Halfords – buy here

Belkin is a popular brand choice when it comes to portable charging.

This Belkin option is your traditional power bank with its four LEDs indicating the charge left in it and its rectangular design.

This charger is a great one for charging your devices quickly with its 2.4 amp port and the 2.0 amp port that charges the power bank itself means it won’t be out of juice for long.

Priced on par with its peers, it’s portability and power will be a no-brainer for power-hungry professionals.

4. Powertraveller Mini-G Professional

  • Powertraveller mini-gorilla chargers and batteries, £89.90 from Amazon- buy here

This charger comes with multi-voltage technology, meaning you can charge items with 12V, 16V and 19V.

This lets the power bank charge larger items like cameras and even netbooks (if they’re under 44 watts).

Ideal if you work during long journeys (or like to binge-watch Netflix on a larger screen, you can also charge this power bank, while charging other devices—a feature that can be hard to find.
