Findings revealed by the Dirty Delivery Report, which analyses the environmental credentials of the top delivery firms, show that Black Friday 2020 is expected to break sale records.  The study found only 1 in 10 shoppers consider the environmental impact of deliveries when purchasing online. Topping the list of companies expected to produce the most CO2 emissions from Black Friday deliveries are; Hermes, which is expected to produce 58,313 tonnes of CO2, and Amazon, with 18,854 tonnes.

Experts predict that sales will see a rise of at least 14 percent compared to last year, which could see this Black Friday be responsible for the release of up to 429,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

The study also revealed Glasgow is the most eco-friendly city in the UK when it comes to Black Friday online shopping, with findings showing 15 percent of online shoppers in the city factor green delivery options into their online purchase.

Other findings revealed by the Dirty Delivery Report show almost a third (28 percent) of Scottish shoppers’ purchase decisions change based on the particular delivery company used by an online retailer.

Over a third (33 percent) of Scots said eco-delivery impacts their purchasing decisions.

Nearly half of shoppers in Scotland (43 percent) say they do not feel environmental guilt when shopping online.
