The next Full Moon is on November 30 in the UK, with a New Moon occurring on December 14. But what does this mean for your emotions and actions? Express.co.uk spoke to Moon mentor and author of Lunar Living: Working With The Magic Of The Moon Cycles Kirsty Gallagher (@kirsty_gallagher_) to find out how the lunar cycle affects your life and how you can use it to your advantage.
The Moon’s movement through its phases affects our moods, energy levels, and actions, so it’s worth knowing a Full Moon from a New Moon.
Kirsty said: “Just as the Moon affects the tides she exerts the same gravitational pull on the watery inner world of our emotions, intuition, dreams, and soul.
“On a dark Moon we will find ourselves pulled into the depths of our emotions, and on a Full Moon, our emotions are pulled up to the surface.
“Our emotions are often a good indicator of areas in life that we are out of alignment or need to make a change.
“As the Moon illuminates our inner world, she helps us to see clearly which areas of our lives need attention or where we are most stuck.”
Understanding the lunar cycle will help you to take control of your own life, Kirsty explained.

How does the lunar cycle impact us?
Every month, the moon goes through a cycle of different phases.
Kirsty said: “Month on month the Moon moves through a cycle of different phases from dark to new, waxing (growing bigger) to full, waning (getting smaller) back to dark.
“As she does she takes us on a powerful inner journey with her.
“Working with the Moon and her phases means that rather than being thrown around by emotions and life, you get to take back control and make relevant changes in your life.
“You can work with the ancient wisdom and magic of the Moon ‘s cycles to do this.”
New Moon 2020
The New Moon is when the Sun, Moon and Earth line up in the sky and is the beginning of your lunar journey.
A New Moon is the perfect time for setting intentions and getting creative.
Kirsty said: “Get clear on what you want to create, manifest, and put into motion in the coming lunar cycle.
“Set your dreams, goals and intentions for the lunar month ahead. Do all you can to bring them to life during the waxing phases.”
You’ve just missed a New Moon, but there’s another coming up on December 14 in Sagittarius.
Waxing moon
The waxing part of the lunar cycle is when the Moon grows bigger, brighter and bolder in the sky every night.
Kirsty said: “Work with the growing light and energy of the Waxing Moon to help your New Moon dreams and intentions come to life.
“As the Moon’s energy grows so will yours encouraging you to take action.
“Go out into the world, be seen and heard and take brave bold steps towards achieving your dreams.”

Full Moon
There’s a Full Moon on November 30 in Gemini – here’s what Kirsty has to say about its impact on you.
She said: “The Full Moon is the time of completion and illuminating what stands in the way, the waning phase gives us the opportunity for release and letting go.
“Each month we infuse our intentions with more and more energy until they come to life.
The Full Moon brings a moment of completion and an honest check in.
Kirsty advises using the Full Moon to look back over the first half of the lunar cycle at what worked and what you achieved.
Rule out what didn’t and what you allowed to get in the way – you can work on these actions next month.
Waning Moon
The waning part of the lunar cycle is when the Moon grows smaller and smaller in the sky every night.
Kirsty said: “This is the part of the lunar cycle that we use to let go of all that stood in the way of achieving your dreams and intentions.
“Use the Moon’s waning energy to let go of doubts, fears, people, situations, beliefs and anything that stood in your way.”
You can look back on the month behind you and use your mistakes to improve your life in the next month.
Dark Moon
The Moon wanes all the way down to the dark Moon.
The dark Moon is the lowest energy point and most emotional part of the lunar cycle, said Kirsty.
She explained: “This is the end of the Waning Moon when the Moon is barely visible in the sky but hasn’t yet become new.”
Take advantage of the dark Moon to give yourself some well-earned TLC.
Kirsty said: “This is the time of the lunar cycle to rest, pause, and take your awareness inwards.
“It’s really important at this part of the cycle that you take note of your emotions and what they are trying to show and signpost you to, as this will help set your intentions for the next lunar month.”
