Tomorrow marks National Dog Day and, if you don’t already have big plans for your pooch, the GoBoat team have something up their sleeve.
The boating company is giving away free trips at their Paddington and Kingston sites to anyone who turns up with a four-legged friend.
These will be given out on a first come, first served basis on Thursday 26 August – but you can also email beforehand to check availability (at [email protected]), to ensure you get a boat on the day.
Those lucky enough to get their paws on the freebie will be able to soak up London’s sights from the water.
One free boat will be available every hour, from 9am – 6pm, and you’ll have 60 minutes to play with in total.
It’s also a pretty great deal, considering the eco-friendly, electric vessels usually cost around £79 an hour to hire.
The boats have capacity for groups of eight people and their dogs, and they feature a little picnic table – so you can even bring some snacks for the ride.
For those not clued-up, GoBoat is a self-driving experience, so groups will have to captain the boats themselves.
It’s also worth pointing out that all boats are sanitised between each trip and GoBoat operates a new safe-distanced queuing system to keep guests apart. There’s also a contact-free kiosk to check in at.
GoBoat co-founder Julian Wootton says: ‘We’ve always encouraged people to bring their dogs down to GoBoat, so what better way to celebrate International Dog Day than to give people and their furry companions a little treat on the house.
‘The last 18 months have been tough for everyone, so anything that we can do to put a smile on people’s faces and get a tail wagging is always a bonus.’
