UNIVERSAL credit is the latest way that the government payout benefits to people across the UK.

In a bid to make the whole process easier they have now made it possible to login online to check you account. Here's how you do it…

How do you login to Universal Credit?

You can now see your universal credit account online by logging into the government website.

The page you need to head to is https://www.gov.uk/sign-in-universal-credit.

You will be given a username and password when you've been accepted for a universal credit account.

In order to access the service online you will need to enter them to sign in.

What are the benefits to having an online account?

Having an online account allows you to  apply for an advance on your first payment and see you statement.

The service also allows you to report a change in circumstances, add a note to your to-do list and see when your next payment will be.

The page will also contain your Claimant Commitment which is what you agree to in order to access the benefit.

What benefits does the payment replace?

The government incative combines payments for a number of benefits into one monthly amount.

It replaces:

  • Child Tax Credit
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Working Tax Credit
