Kate Middleton sparkles in Princess Diana’s tiara and the Queen’s necklace

Kate Middleton was dazzling in diamonds at the Queen’s 2019 Diplomatic Corps Reception on Wednesday evening.

For the formal affair held at Buckingham Palace, the 37-year-old Duchess of Cambridge chose a navy velvet gown by one of her favorite designers, Alexander McQueen, that featured a V-neckline, slightly puffed shoulders and long sleeves — but it was her accessories that really stole the show.

Middleton wore her go-to Lover’s Knot Tiara perched atop her head, a century-old Garrard design that has teardrop-shaped pearls suspended from diamond “knots” and was a longtime favorite of the late Princess Diana‘s.

Adding to the drama was her Cartier-designed Nizam of Hyderabad diamond necklace, on loan from the Queen, along with sparkling chandelier earrings and a new diamond ring.

The meaningful extras didn’t stop there, either. The duchess was also wearing her Royal Family Order — a yellow ribbon-backed brooch featuring a tiny portrait of the Queen and framed by diamonds and a red enamel crown — plus the blue sash and Maltese cross badge that mark her status as a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.

Would you expect anything less from the future queen?
