Texas is alright, alright, alright with McConaughey as gov, poll finds

Matthew McConaughey doesn’t think children should be forced to get the COVID-19 vaccine, confirming his own three children have not been jabbed.

“I couldn’t mandate having to vaccinate the younger kids,” the “Dallas Buyers Club” actor, 52, recently said in an interview with The New York Times when asked if the vaccine should be mandated for children. “I still want to find out more information.”

He added, “There will come a time where you’re going to have to roll the dice one way or the other and go: ‘Where are the numbers in my favor?’”

McConaughey — who was mulling over a run for Texas governor earlier this year — and his wife Camila Alves, 39, share three kids: Levi, 13, Vida, 11, and 8-year-old Livingston.

The “Greenlights” author, who is vaccinated, explained that he’s not against the vaccination of children but doesn’t see the need to mandate them, adding that he won’t be vaccinating his own children for the time being.

“Right now I’m not vaccinating mine, I’ll tell you that,” he said.

McConaughey also clarified that he believes in the vaccine and how it can help put an end to the virus.

“Do I think that there’s any kind of scam or conspiracy theory? Hell no, I don’t,” he said. “We all got to get off that narrative. There’s not a conspiracy theory on the vaccines.”

But he noted that the CDC only approved Pfizer’s vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 a few days ago, saying,  “we just said we can vaccinate kids.”

“I’m vaccinated. My wife’s vaccinated. I didn’t do it because someone told me I had to — [I] chose to do it,” he said.

He also added that he’s fortunate enough to be able to “quarantined harder” and rely on heavy COVID-19 testing, noting, “I’m in a position though where I can do that, and I understand that not everyone can do that.”
