In an additional post, she thanked her ‘dream team’, adding: ‘Can’t believe this was two years ago. I love these bakers so much. It was an epic challenge and we nailed it.’

Claire also paid credit to Sunspel Clothing, who supplied their crisp white uniforms and pale yellow aprons to colour-coordinate with the cake for the special occasion.

The team spent five days baking and icing the individual tiers of the spectacular creation at Buckingham Palace, before transporting them individually to the venue.

There they assembled the cake on the morning of the big day, prior to the reception.

Prior to the wedding, Kensington Palace announced that lemon and elderflower had been chosen to incorporate the ‘bright flavors of spring’.

Its ingredient list included 200 Amalfi lemons, 500 organic eggs from Suffolk, 20kgs of butter, 20kgs of flour, 20kgs of sugar and 10 bottles of Sandringham elderflower cordial.

The cake was adorned with an elderflower-infused Swiss meringue buttercream described by Claire as ‘satiny and super delicious’, and decorated with 150 fresh flowers including roses and peonies.

In a video released by Kensington Palace prior to the nuptials, Claire described the texture as ‘really lovely’.

Violet Bakery is currently closed due to the Covid-19 lockdown, however Claire has been sharing some of her delicious recipes with fans on social media.

She recently shared a photo of a flour-less chocolate cake, revealing: ‘I always tend to slightly under-mix my bakes. The lighter the touch the lighter the result in most cases.’
