Aries

March 21 to April 20

Tarot cards for Aries for January: Six of Swords, The Sun, The Empress

Meaning: Let things go

Rather than what you introduce to your life, your happiness and success is based, this month, on what you let go of. Bad habits, toxic relationships, outdated duties, negative self beliefs. Bid them all adieu.

The Six of Swords is the departure card, and reveals you already know what you need to (and want to) release. It’s been brewing for a while. This is the month to make a clean break.

The Sun and The Empress are beautiful cards of joy, love, happiness and prosperity. It’s all waiting for you, if only you’d let go of the old, fading, false and negative ghosts clinging to your coat tails.

Be kind to yourself as you make these cuts. Self care is key. This is a turning point.

Taurus

April 21 to May 21

Tarot cards for Taurus for January: The Devil, The Emperor, Seven of Coins

Meaning: Adjust your course

The Seven of Coins always shows up when we’re adjusting our course, reviewing the situation, seeking a change from something we’ve done or been wedded to for a long time. It’s time for something new and different – can you feel it?

The Devil reveals you’re 100% free and in control of your world, even if you don’t always feel like that. You always have options. Use them. Take ownership for making changes, only you can do this for yourself.

The Emperor Shows you need to be a bit bossy, authoritative, direct, and selfish here. It feels like you’re getting out from under someone else’s demands or agenda. You are putting yourself first, and it’s going to mean changes.

Gemini

May 22 to June 21

Tarot cards for Gemini for January: The Fool, Five of Swords, The Hanged Man

Meaning: Seek a speedy escape

The Hanged Man and the Five of Swords show that there is conflict which has bedded down and created a stalemate in your life. No one is compromising or budging, no one is willing to give an inch. There is a lose:lose mentality, which is unhealthy and unhappy. You’re sick of it.

The Fool shows there’ll be a change in the air this month ahead, and a new beginning for all concerned. Accelerate towards it by bringing new energy, ideas, and people into your life, let that propel you forwards and away from this deadlock. The ties will soon loosen, and everyone will start to wish for, and hope for, escape.

Right now, the best way out is the fastest way out. So focus on whatever it is that will let everyone untangle themselves and get out of this. It doesn’t have to be perfect or a full resolution, just enough to enable movement.

Cancer

June 22 to July 23

Tarot cards for Cancer for January: Knight of Wands, King of Swords, King of Wands

Meaning: Presence and voice

Three male Court cards this month, Cancer, so it might be that the men in your life are causing some drama, excitement or concern and need your attention. Kings and Knights feature, so this could be an inter-generational situation – father and son, boss and colleague, older and younger sibling or friends.

That said, this trio of cards can also hint at you stepping up to the plate and finding a new authority and voice regarding your opinions and ideas. You are pretty secretive, and sometimes this means you miss out on stuff, because no one really knows what you want.

This January, you are taking responsibility for being heard, for taking the lead, for stepping forwards and being present in the conversation, and it will bring you definite rewards.

Leo

July 24 to August 23

Tarot cards for Leo for January: Two of Swords, Eight of Coins, Ace of Coins

Meaning: Start a project and work hard

A simple three-step action plan this month ahead Leo: make a decision, get the ball rolling, work hard to keep it rolling. Got it? Good.

The Two of Swords sees you wrestling with an overdue choice. You really need to focus on this and make a decision ASAP – it has dragged on and is dragging you down.

Then, the Ace and Eight of Coins ask you to get the ball rolling here quickly, and expect to work hard to keep it rolling. This will be challenging, but you’re more than up to it. And the rewards will equal the effort.

This project is likely related to home, work, health, or money. It starts fast and hard, but it won’t pay back till later on, so you need to stay committed and dig in. It will be worthwhile.

Virgo

August 24 to September 23

Tarot cards for Virgo for January: Page of Wands, The Tower, Nine of Cups

Meaning: Get things moving

Sometimes you need to start a fight to see how you’re going to win one! Action kicks up the sand, opens up opportunities, changes the dynamic. You can’t make things happen just by sitting and thinking really, really hard… you have to act, and then re-assess. This is the ask this month.

The Tower and the Page of Wands urge you to get your hands dirty, so to speak, and to kick-start something risky. It might even be a destructive act, or something negative (but it’s necessary, and even overdue). Don’t worry, this isn’t the end game, it’s just the beginning.

The Nine of Cups reveals that this destructive act will, in a roundabout way, lead you to what you most wish for. You can’t see the route yet, the path is made by walking – not thinking.

Get into it, get things moving, and take it from there.

Libra

September 24 to October 23

Tarot cards for Libra for January: Three of Wands, Five of Cups, Three of Coins

Meaning: Be your best self

It’s how you handle adversity, challenges or setbacks that really mark out your character to others, people watch closely when we’re under pressure, and they remember the way we behaved. So, rise up and take the high road, no matter what happens.

The Five of Cups sees you feeling a bit sorry for yourself or mourning a loss or delay. It sucks, and you feel moody and miserable about it.

But, Libra, try and elevate your vibration. The Threes of Wands and Coins show that others are noticing how you’re acting, and if you impress them with your dignity and resilience, you might find there’s a silver lining in this.

You never know what other people are in a position to offer you, and it’s likely that, if you impress them, someone with influence is going to brighten your month massively. It will be like this setback never took place.

So, be your best self even through the stormy clouds.

Scorpio

October 24 to November 22

Tarot cards for Scorpio for January: Ten of Coins, Eight of Cups, Eight of Wands

Meaning: Tweak a long-term investment

An adjustment is necessary in a long term plan you’re forming about your security, home and finances. Maybe a mortgage, pension, career plan, house project, or investment scheme. The Ten of Coins show it will pay off, but you need to tweak it.

The Eight of Cups is the disappointment card. It asks you to face reality, accept the loss or disappointment, and work to move on to something else. So, something isn’t quite panning out as you hoped, or is unlikely to, and the sooner you act on it, the better you can replace it.

The key here is networking. The Eight of Wands asks you to put the word out, ask for help, research new options, seek guidance, get professional advice, join a forum and ask questions. Get informed, get options, and make a tweak to your long term investments.

Sagittarius

November 23 to December 21

Tarot cards for Sagittarius for January: Ten of Cups, Queen of Wands, Eight of Swords

Meaning: A love life revamp

A self-limiting belief, as shown by the mental prison card the Eight of Swords, is trapping you in a loop over your love life, a repeat ‘Groundhog Day’ scenario that you long to escape from.

We all have habits, quirks, behaviours and limiting beliefs – and they impact our daily life. This one has influenced your love life, be it a belief about your attractiveness, a seed of jealousy or doubt, a private fear of abandonment, or a need to control and keep power over someone. It’s unhealthy, and it works against you.

The Queen of Wands brings you the fresh mindset, bravery, confidence, and energy to identify and vanquish this mental trap. You’re tired of it, and you’re ready to overcome it.

You know what, as soon as you do… your love life, as shown by the romantic and happy-ever-after Ten of Cups, will be bliss. You were getting in your own way.

Capricorn

December 22 to January 21

Tarot cards for Capricorn for January: Two of Cups, Page of Coins, Judgment

Meaning: Recalibrate your relationships

What have you learnt or discovered about the people closest to you in the last year? I bet there’s a lot. Take a time out to list the new information and insight you’ve gleaned, with the compassionate and supportive Two of Cups and the assessing Page of Coins.

This is a useful exercise because it may reveal to you that you’re treating some people the same, even though the dynamic or demand has changed. Or that you’ve become stuck in a rut with others, despite knowing more about how to get past it. You’re probably not using all of the new insight you’ve gained, and this might nudge you to do so.

Judgment shows this is something of a wake-up call, for the better, reviving and recalibrating your important relationships, and letting the new news enter the scene and refresh the bond.

You’re turning the page and starting to write a new chapter of friendship, love and fellowship with the people you’ve chosen to be in your life

Aquarius

January 22 to February 19

Tarot cards for Aquarius for January: Two of Wands, Page of Cups, Four of cups

Meaning: Chill time

You’re just chilling, coasting, drifting. Life is free-wheeling along right now, and you’re open to going with the flow and just seeing what turns up, what unfolds, where you land. And that’s okay.

The Two of Wands brings this optional attitude into your life, and it’s no bad thing to let fate decide your course for a while. See it as taking a rest.

The Four and Page of Cups warn of not letting this become the new normal, so set a time limit on the coasting approach. Maybe just this month? The Four of Cups shows lethargy and boredom could set in if you drift for too long.

The Page of Cups advises you to focus on your creativity this month, and undertake some writing, drawing, crafting projects which let your imagination loose. It’s a time to relax, rest and recalibrate. Let life happen around you.

Pisces

February 20 to March 20

Tarot cards for Pisces for January: Four of Wands, Ace of Swords, Knight of Cups

Meaning: Don’t ask, don’t get

Truth is the key to all progress and prosperity this month ahead, so prepare to express yourself fully and cleanly. Don’t seek to upset people, but don’t hold back either. Say it as it is, and what unfolds will be the right thing. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.

The Ace of Swords is the brutal honesty card, and your guiding light for January. The Knight of Cups alongside it asks you to be open about your love life, and the ideals or desires you want in that area of life, and perhaps aren’t receiving. Be honest about what you want.

The Four of Wands also asks you to clarify your ambitions in work, and what the next level looks like for you, and when you want to get there. Outline your goals, share them, get feedback on them, and let the Universe know your demands. Things will change as a result of you voicing your desires.
