Ice skate, sip champagne, and have a cosy overnight stay with this London deal

It’s getting just cold enough to ponder bringing out your big coat, you’re starting to think seriously about buying people’s presents, and all you want for dinner is soup and stodge.

Winter is really, properly coming, and that means it’s time to engage in all those classic festive activities.

One on our must-do list for Londoners this year is a new package from Somerset House and the southbank hotel, Sea Containers.

Called Get Your Skates on, it includes an overnight stay in one of the guest rooms or suites, a pair of tickets to Skate at Somerset House with Moët & Chandon (in case the name doesn’t give it away, that’s ice skating at Somerset House’s rink), and cosy in-room extras to get you warm once you’re all tuckered out from sliding around.

You’ll also get breakfast for two the morning after your stay – and two pairs of socks, because why not?

Some of the added treats on offer include hot chocolate, champagne, and Hotel Chocolate nibbles, so it’s peak winter festivity.

The offer is only available from November 16 to January 16, so if you’re keen to have the ultimate Christmassy night in London, you’ll want to book in with haste.

The entire package costs upwards of £356, depending on the room you fancy.

If you don’t fancy shelling out for a room, breakfast, and some (admittedly rather nice) socks, don’t stress – you can still book your slot to skate about.

Skate at Somerset House opens up again from November 17, with adult tickets starting from £11 a pop.

For dining after you ski, it’s worth booking in at Chalet Barragiste, serving up burgers, fancy fondue, and steaks, whereas anyone craving hot cocoa needs to stop off at the Hotel Chocolat pop-up, located right under the 40ft tall Christmas tree.
