Britney Spears responds as Lynne Spears says she 'just wants her to be happy'

Britney Spears appeared to take a thinly-veiled swipe at mum Lynne Spears as she cuddled up to husband Sam Asghari.

The Toxic singer married long-term boyfriend Sam in June at a lavish affair at her home in Thousand Oaks, Los Angeles.

Neither her parents nor her siblings were in attendance at the ceremony, with Britney appearing to have become estranged from them after she was freed from a 13-year conservatorship last year.

The star has previously spoken out against her family, particularly her father Jamie, who earned $16,000 (£13,000) per month as her conservator.

This week, Lynne, 67, was seen at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, and was asked by a journalist if she had any comment to make on Britney or her new marriage to Sam.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Lynne responded: ‘I just want her to be happy.’

Britney has since appeared to respond to Lynne’s comment as she posted a sweet video of her and her husband on board a plane, sharing steamy kisses and cuddling their puppy, Sawyer.

Captioning the video, Britney wrote: ‘Hi … Am I happy enough mamma ???’

She added: ‘What’s the serious talk for ? ??? Lighten up ladies … we’re on the same side … remember ???’

Previously, Lynne had appeared to reach out to Britney in a since-deleted comment on Instagram congratulating her daughter on her marriage despite not being invited to the wedding.

Commenting under one of Britney’s wedding photos, Lynne reportedly wrote: ‘You look radiant and so happy!

‘Your wedding is the “Dream” wedding! And having it at your home makes it so sentimental and special! I am soooo happy for you! I love you.’

Lynne’s comments come after Britney previously branded her mother ‘worse’ than the negligent mum in her 2002 film Crossroads.

The star shared a devastating scene from the movie to Instagram, writing what her on-screen mother had done to her was ‘actually less worse than what my mom did to me in real life.’

Tension between Britney and her family has been well-documented over the past couple of years, as the Slave 4 U singer moved to end her conservatorship.

During a court hearing, she revealed shocking details of the court order, which included her allegedly being banned from removing a contraceptive IUD implant from her body so she could have children with Sam.

Her father Jamie eventually volunteered to remove himself from being in charge of the conservatorship before a judge agreed to terminate it at the end of last year, giving Britney the freedom to make decisions about her own life for the first time in 13 years.
