A crippling pain affected AJ Odudu’s ankle on Monday, which puts her dreams of claiming the glittering Strictly trophy with dance partner Kai Widdrington in devastating jeopardy. Today, she took to Instagram to share all about her tragic injury.

“I’ve got a repeated traumatic impact injury to my right ankle affecting the joint, capsule and ligaments themselves,” she explained to her 195,000 followers.

“I can’t pinpoint a moment it actually happened during training but the pain came on suddenly on Monday night.

“The pain was so acute that I projectile vomited and currently I can’t put any weight on my right foot without agonising discomfort.”

Even worse, AJ is now unable to continue with dance routines until the big event itself.

“PLUS, I have the most incredible partner @kaiwidd who is carrying me emotionally and physically (literally).

“Thanks for all your messages. I sincerely hope it will be all right on the night.”

Photos taken earlier pictured the wincing Strictly star getting a hand of support from Kai as the pair prepared to enter Riverside Studios.

There was a visibly strained expression on her face, while her affected foot was left on display in spite of cold wintry weather.

AJ’s followers flooded the post, which received over 15,000 likes within mere minutes, with positivity and encouragement.

Everyone from fellow Strictly star Dan Walker to Pussycat Dolls performer Kimberley Wyatt expressed their remorse.

Meanwhile, alyamooro penned: “Maaaaaan I’m so sad to see this.

“Thinking of you and praying for your ankle sending you all the good vibes.”

Fleur East wrote: “Aw bless you!!! Praying for a speedy recovery!!! Rest and do what you need to do.

“Fingers crossed we see you shine on Saturday night!”

Then Gina Martin stepped in to add: “Oh Aj! This is testament to how hard your body and mind is working. Sending you SUCH healing vibes.”
