Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to officially quit their roles as senior royals came as shock to the rest of The Firm, and the public.
The royal family remained publicly unfazed by the decision, as they continued to keep up with appearances and remain tight lipped about their opinions on the matter.
As royal engagements and events continued as normal before Meghan and Harry stepped down, the annual Commonwealth Day Service in 2020 came around – which was the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's final royal engagement before jetting to the US.
The event, held at Westminster Abbey, also marked Harry and Meghan's first public reunion with Prince William and Kate following the shock announcement.
While the Royal Family looked to put on a united front, it would appear that behind the scenes tensions were extremely high.

Harry and Meghan had hoped to remain part of the Queen's official procession at the beginning of the service, however they were simply shown to their seats in the same manner that regular guests are.
Being shunned from the procession reportedly left the couple "upset and emotional", which prompted Kate to step in and attempt to soften the blow.
Will and Kate made a last minute change to the running order of the service and offered to skip the procession, meaning they could join Meghan and Harry in their seats and wait together for the event to begin.
Unfortunately, the kind gesture didn't have the desired effect Will and Kate had hoped for, and it looked to have make the day even more awkward that initially expected.
Harry and Meghan arrived first and took their seats in the second row, with Will and Kate shortly following behind them. The Sussexes didn't stand to greet the Cambridges however, resulting in an awkward exchange.
As the two couples awaited the arrival of Prince Charles and the Queen, they exchanged all but two words.
Meghan could be seen uttering "hello" as she waved at the pair, while Harry also said "hello" before quickly turning to talk to his wife.
Harry and Meghan then struck up a conversation with Prince Edward, as Kate and Will began chatting to Sophie Wessex, who was seated behind them.
Rumours of a rift between the two royal couples have been rife for several months, with various sources claiming they no longer get along.
